After great success in 2023, we are once again allowed to use the AXIWI sets this year! Blind and visually impaired participants who join the Mentelity Games all receive an individual guide during the lessons. They stay in contact with each other through the AXIWI communication systems. Through directions and tips, the participants come safely down the mountain with the help of the volunteers and the sets.
Safe winter sports thanks to AXIWI communication sets for visually impaired
Pieter (volunteer) and Annemiek (participant) already have considerable experience in the snow. Pieter: “As a ski instructor and guide for winter sports participants with a visual impairment, I have been using AXIWI for years. With the AXIWI communication system, one-on-one guidance runs smoothly and quickly,” he says. “You understand each other better, which means both the participant and the guide can react faster. This increases safety, which is of course of great importance during winter sports activities with blind and visually impaired people. The sound quality is very good and the range is excellent too. The devices are small and easy to operate.”
Annemiek is also satisfied with AXIWI: “I am severely visually impaired myself and I use AXIWI to communicate better during winter sports and horseback riding. During winter sports, it is of course extremely important to hear and follow the instructions of my guide or instructor well. With the AXIWI system, I feel more confident and safer on the slopes. Previously, the guide gave verbal instructions without a communication system, which sometimes meant you could not hear him or her. This can of course lead to unsafe situations. The directions via AXIWI are clearly audible, there is little wind noise and the battery lasts a long time.”
